the soul always knows what to do to heal itself
Spiritual Healing & Reiki
A process or activity that has a positive effect on our sense of wellbeing. This may be something that helps us in a physical, mental, or emotional way. The healer/practitioner acts as a facilitator through which energy can flow to you (a very relaxing experience). This has the effect of allowing your own natural healing to take place. Healing can be given for any illness, stress, or injury as a therapy, which is completely natural, has no side effects, and is complementary to any other therapy.
No faith is necessary; healing works equally well with children, animals, and plants. Parental consent is required for children under the age of 18.
Do you have to be ill to receive healing?
No. Why wait until you are ill to receive the benefits of healing! Healing can help you maintain a sense of well-being. (In Eastern countries, people pay the doctor to keep them well and do not wait until they are ill to visit him!)
What is happening?
A natural phenomenon is occurring. Time and space are being created for the attendee's wellbeing to be stimulated. By focus of intent by the practitioner, a spontaneous reaction within the attendee's body is happening; this can be subtle (sometimes quite profound) and is often experienced by way of pulsation on the surface of the body, changes in temperature, tingling and a strong sense of being revitalised or relaxed.
Release sometimes occurs by way of pent-up emotions coming to the surface and an experienced practitioner will be aware of the different ways the body activates its own healing process and is equipped to deal with such matters and to offer support and self-help techniques.
Does healing always work?
It is unusual for healing not to be helpful in some way. Sometimes one treatment is sufficient, but often several are needed and the benefits emerge gradually. For some people, a successful outcome to healing is obvious, but for others change takes place at a more subtle level and sometimes in an unexpected way.
In my experience no matter what you are going through, anything that can ease stress and tension in the body is a good thing. No "cure" is promised. Help is given by way of "coping strategies".
When the body is stressed (which can be due to many different reasons, the main one being illness) it emits a frequency and this is usually distorted due to the stress in the body. Healing/relaxation calms this frequency which in turn promotes natural wellbeing.
Healing often helps with the recovery from serious illness and major surgery and from the effects of treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Usually, people feel more stable and relaxed, and often experience a beneficial change to their attitude to life; a situation which often arises in cases of terminal illness where healing brings serenity to the patient and to relatives and friends as well.
Healing and my doctor
Many healers are now working in Hospitals, Hospices and General Practices. Healing is complementary and NOT instead of medical treatment. GPs are allowed to refer patients for healing. You are encouraged to remain in touch with your doctor. You will be asked what medical advice and treatment you have received. You will NOT be asked to alter it.
I often refer to Spiritual Healing and Reiki as having had a "SPIRITUAL SPRING CLEAN"
Every person's healing is different.
